A visit from the President of Sierra Leone

We are honored to have recently hosted the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, and First Lady, Fatima Bio at the PRHeSS campus in Fallay Wujah, Sierra Leone.

President Bio had called Dr. Sam to congratulate him on the progress the PRHeSS organization had made thus far. He was curious to learn more about our organization, so we made arrangements to host an onsite visit for him and the First Lady.

Dr. Sam and President Bio had a cordial conversation, covering topics about the state of Sierra Leone, what’s next for the country and our operations, and possible avenues for collaboration between PRHeSS and the Bio administration. He was very impressed with our facilities, and liked the goals and vision we have set for the future of our organization. We are happy to see that our already existing partnership with the government of Sierra Leone has strengthened and developed into an executive level partnership.

Julius Maada Bio assumed office in April of 2018, and has made tremendous progress overseeing the development of the country. He stresses the need for development of “human capital” (investing in the people), and modernizing Sierra Leone to a level on par with more developed countries. He has done many talks about how he plans to make progress in Sierra Leone. Below is a link of a Ted Talk that he hosted a couple of years ago, discussing his vision and plans for the country.
